The Colorado Independent: Western Slope Turning Purple?

  • Leslie Robinson · 3 years ago
Election Results May Depend on the Unaffiliated Voters The unaffiliate voters are key to Western Slope elections and probably will have more say in determining who's elected in the Nov 7th election than partisan voters. In some counties West of the Divide, the unaffiliated voter group is larger than the Republican or Democratic ones. The good news for Democrats is the polling results for Rep John Salazar from unaffiliated voters: 64% to 20%.

Will the unaffiliated supporting Salazar mark "D" on their ballot for the rest of the slate?

Much of the get-out-the-vote efforts of the two parties will be targeted to unaffiliated voters. Since historically, voter participation in off-presidential election years is lower,  both parties will have to put their GOTV machines into overdrive.
