Thousands of Colorado applicants rejected from voter rolls

Started by CIM Network · 9 months ago

Colorado's confusing voter registration form has prompted county clerks to reject at least 3,800 new voter applications. And while election officials say there's still time for the applicants to get onto voter rolls, watchdog groups warn of unintended disenfranchisement. ... Continue reading »

  • Obama & his right hand voter fraud group ACORN should be indicted for trying to steal elections.
  • Right....ACORN was not really active here. Regular Dem's and Obama and McCain camps were....but of course you are a Conservative Without a Conscience....just a National Socialist.
  • I am getting truly tired of conservatives calling the kettle black. This is getting really silly. If you don't like America... LEAVE! Isn't that what you said to us in 2000... 2002.... 2004...?

Set up your own country of wack jobs. We'll transfer the national debt to your new country. Have at it.
  • Perfect! The most crucial election of our LIFETIME and some IDIOT thinks it's a great time to change the registration form to a confusing format, causing thousands of legitimate votes to become null and void.
  • This is the same lying, stealing Mike Coffman who conducted the fraudulent, illegal election in Iraq (remember Bush's "purple fingers"?) which all international elections observers characterized as hopelessly corrupted (even President Jimmy Carter - also an observer- deemed it so)!
Coffman's handiwork led to the installation of the ENTIRELY UNPOPULAR Al-Maliki government, the ensuing spiral downward & the bribery-fuelled US "surge" which was, of course, preceded by over a year the various "Awakenings" that the local clans began in order to resist Al Qaeda's destructive depredations upon Iraq's citizens, as the US sure couldn't prevent it!
In '06 I was truly concerned, then incensed when Coffman (R) won the CO SOS office over the always superior State Sen. Ken Gordon - Golden, who was THE pointman who got SB05-198 passed into law, which FINALLY GAVE OUR STATE A VERIFIABLE, MAIL-IN BALLOT WHICH WILL FACILITATE AN OBAMA & BIDEN VICTORY THIS YEAR AS IT DID A NEAR-COMPLETE DEMOCRATIC SWEEP IN COLORADO IN '06!!!!! My lesson learned: WISE, THO'TFUL CITIZENS MUST NEVER ELECT A REPUBLICAN, NO MATTER HOW INNOCUOUS/LOW-KEY/OBSCURE THE OFFICE MAY "SEEM" TO BE!!!!!
OR, ALWAYS THINK BETTER OF IT BEFORE DOING SO!
CALL BOTH OF COFFMAN'S #S: THE (Sec'y Of State) ELECTIONS OFC. 303-894-2200x6307 (CHECK YO VOTING STATUS) & HIS HOUSE CONGRESSIONAL CAMPAIGN OFC. 303-791-6453 & PROTEST HIS ACTIONS 'TIL 11/4 - THAT'S THE LEAST OF WHAT HE & HIS TERRORIST PARTY DESERVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If you don't like what he is doing vote for his opponent Hank Eng for the 6th Congressional District... hankeng.com
  • We need due diligence so we don't become the next Fla. or Ohio on Nov. 4.
The Secretary of State office has already cast a shadow.
  • it's an interesting test case for the Voter Suppression Wiki. Are there ways we can help get word out to people who may be affected that they need to amend their forms ASAP? Suggestions welcome ...
  • Thanks Jon.

I've added this story to the Voter Suppression Wiki incident tracker. Thanks for the resource. Keep up the great work!

Some obvious ways to expand the public's knowledge about verifying their registrations:

    • send a link to this story to friends and family or print it out
    • blog about it on your own site or as a diary at a community blog
    • reference this issue through letters to the editor, call-in opportunities on talk radio or guest OpEds in your local paper
    • submit these stories or rate them up on social media sites, like Digg, Reddit or StumbleUpon via the handy bookmark button above
    • contact an Election Protection organization or non-partisan voters rights group and volunteer to make calls to those who are likely on the deficient application lists
  • This makes me embarrassed to be an American - the founding principle of our democratic system is that all eligible voters can vote. This check-box issue is evidence that the system works against particular demographics- not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but voter caging is very real, and the demographics most likely to be disenfranchised by this rule (among them students) suggest that there is indeed a political agenda here.
How on earth can Alton Dillard argue that this is anything but voter disenfranchisement, when it unequivocally is?
  • Three things: You are saying that current registration numbers are +215,000! That is 90,00 for the month of September! WOW.

    2) There is a remedy that needs to be passed along that all turned registrations before October 6th that are "considered incomplete" due to omission or error in supplying residency identification or unreadable data...they have until October 31st at 5 PM at their County Clerk's Office....essentially they can submit an updated form.

    3) FiveThirtyEight.com which is the geeks of the nerds website for political junkies states that 80% of new registrants will vote Obama with a 75% turnout equating to 129,000 Dem votes.....or net 96,000

This is why they are trying to do whatever they can to purge
  • The Alamosa County Clerk has independently decided that all voters in Alamosa County must vote at a single voting site. Being one of Colorado's lowest income counties this will impede people from voting who are disabled or have transportation problems. This also will discourage voters from waiting in long lines in 10 degree weather, the county being one of the coldest counties in the United States.
  • Straight from Alaska....

For Palin Fans, anti-Palin's and political junkies.......

This is all the good stuff!!

  • In the case of first- time voters, I was not instructed to get a copy of their driver's license or SScard. Probably, this was because if you are registering voters at a card table without a copier nearby, this requirement was impossible to fulfill. When I found out that some of my applications would be invalid, I was devastated. I was encouraging people to participate in a fundamental right as a citizen of this country, and they would be denied the right to vote. I hope they will vote a provisional ballot and will be counted. For those who didn't check "the box", if the information they gave is correct, then they should be allowed to vote. No wonder my immigrant students find our election process deficient.
