The Colorado Independent: Silt Throws Rocks at Gravel Pits

Still throwing gravel Leslie Roberson,  do i know you?  I received a phone call today telling me about an article written about me in the Colorado Confidential. Ignorantly i said "whats that"?  He said "whats what"?  I said the Colorado Confidential?  The answer was "let me give you the web page and you go and read that article and then come back and tell me what you think.

I did read it, and was very impressed, and will certainly read it more often.

I would like to correct something in the article, and that would be that the expense of 1 mile of road is $1,000,000 and we have 5.2 miles of road being destroyed,  for a total of $5,200,000 and the 2 bridges being damaged would result into $25,000,000 for a total of over $30,000,000 of expenses, and that is what would take the 53 years to pay off from one toll booth.

The Town has been challenged by the State whether or not it is legal to set up a toll booth.  Our research have found that there is nothing against the law that would prohibit us from doing so.

We are also exploring other avenues, and methods of collection.  One is "Tuck Licensing", another is "Access Fee, an Electronic Toll Booth, the old fashion system of charges against the reciepts by said gravel pit trucks. But none of them makes sense like the Old Fashion Toll Booth System that stems back to 1779.

    Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the Comments! We met at the Base Camp in Rifle during a political strategy meeting for our new GarCo assessor. It didn't take long to capture the essence of your character. As you know, we still live in a "small town" when it comes to politics and as a writer, it's my business to know everyone else's business. I look forward to your comments on other local stories.
