Thanks for your observation After reading the other press reports, you are correct to point out that Sen. Salazar did not make a "black and white" call for Gonzales' resignation.

I interpreted his muted "gray" quote "If Attorney General Gonzales has indeed crossed this line, then he has forfeited his right to lead the Department of Justice" as the strongest demand for departure that can be publicly spoken between "friends" in Washington DC.

Not exactly true - not 180 perhaps 90 I'm sorry but your report about Salazar's position is not exactly true or accurate. As the Denever post reports, Salazar, while critical of the US attorney scandal, took a position just short of calling for Gonzales resignation. Read your block quote carefully.

What gets me is that even Tom Tancredo has come out unequivocably demanding Gonzales resign. Salazar just can't seem to do that yet.

There is a tendency for Democrats to apologize for Salazar. We need to stop that and start pushing him - hard.

Seriously, why was the lousiness of Gonzales' nomination so obvious to so many of us, including me, Mr. Nobody Blogreader, and yet so inscrutable to our esteemed Senator? I know, I know, for him it was all about "triangulation" and all that other political gamesmanship. Still, it's utterly aggravating to see the wheels falling off this Bushie Bandwagon due to their incompetence/corruption/cynicism, and Dems like Salazar having to go through the kabuki theater of declaring his "disappointment" about it.
