All those corporate mavens keep their eye on the quarterly numbers with only a few raising their heads to look as far ahead as next year. The politicians carry a responsibility to look much further down the road. They're the ones who must stare down the CEOs and former Treasury Secretary Rubin and say we're in this for the long run. Let's make long-term investments in our communities with this stimulus.
