Ah.... OK...well to tell the truth, it would seem that these acts are a hell of alot more innocuous than a Member of Congress trying to engage in inappropriate activity. I'm glad that Congress kept their promise and started supervising the Members and their members.

Actually, two. The first has to do with pages involved in shoplifting. The second has to do with two pages engaging in a sex act in a public place. So much for the promised supervision.

Appropriations v Other Bills In the case of ordinary laws, the case for accepting an improvement from the status quo, even if it is half a loaf, makes sense.

I'm more skeptical in the areas of nominations and appropriations.

When the Senate rejects a nomination, the President must submit a new name, which is the desired result with a bad nominee anyway.

When the President vetoes an appropriations bill, the status quo is that the President gets no money at all. Again, this give the Congress far more leverage.

Democrats are unnecessarily approving too many bad nominations, and compromising on too many bad appropriations bills (most notably war funding bills).

This Congress This Congress can't get it's basic job done. Can't seem to do anything on time. Has the lowest approval ratings in history. Has had yet ANOTHER page scandal after solemn promises that such would NEVER be repeated. And who's fault is it? Why, George Bush's, of course. Yeah. Right. Get real. This kind of neener-neener-neener finger-pointing is just an attempt at obtaining political cover in an upcoming election.
