In 1998, Tom defeated his GOP opponent by 194 votes. That opponent? Drew Bolin (who at one point published some Photoshopped picture of Tom to try to make him look like a hippie - this amused Tom since in addition to the appearance of an earring, hair had been added to his pic).</p><p><br>Tom will be great in this office - just as he was a great state rep. And he joins some other really respected Boulder folk, former state Rep. Todd Saliman (Tom's predecessor on the JBC) and former U.S. Rep. It basically ended with me nodding my head and feigning that I had some bleak understanding of what he was talking about.
