  • Thank you for this excellent column. It is good to hear the viewpoints of esteemed religious leaders.

    I tend to think of it as a women's rights issue, because that's who it concerns, women... women who could very well die having a miscarriage if this law is enacted. Women who would become mere breeding sows and 2nd class citizens.

    But it is apparent that this law also violates the religious freedoms of others who are also sincere in their religion. If we enact a law saying one religious viewpoint trumps all others, we are in grave danger of eliminating the religious freedom this country stands for.

    How is that any different than Hitler?
  • Thank you for this excellent overview of how various religious beliefs view this ballot initiative. If Coloradans pass this measure, it will be the second time I can truly say I'm ashamed to be a native (the first one being Amendment 1 back in the 80's, but thank goodness that was proven to be unconstitutional, as I think this one surely would be too, eventually). I can only say that I am appalled that a naive 20-year old could bring forth such a movement to discriminate so boldly against women. I pity her.
