The identically worded constitutional amendment was enacted in California, Washington, Michigan and Nebraska. Obviously with the national election of President Obama the proposition that Americans are so biased against blacks that the entire race needs special unfair advantages has been disproven. In our competition against the rest of the world we need merit to be the only factor in achievement. Somehow prejudice has not harmed Oprah, Denzel, Shaq, etc. etc, etc.

but it has harmed so many others... i agree that we are past race being a barrier in equality. but financially we are not all up to level. and that well plays a role in many aspects of American life. Affirmative action is both a necessary evil and unncessary good.
