The Colorado Independent: NRA takes aim at Obama in Colorado over firearms record

  • ErinRosa · 1 year ago
I'm a proud gun owner and shooter, but the NRA is so out of touch with those who believe in responsible ownership that they are reduced to this partisan hackery. This is why I am not, and will never be, a member of the NRA.
  • Jim C · 1 year ago
the NRA has backed Republicans and Democrats. The question is and should always be: What is the candidates position. Obama refused to sign the Friend of the Court letter in the Heller case. He has voted for every gun control bill that has come his way, both as a state legislater and during his short time in Congress. Forget parties, look at the person.
  • mmm · 1 year ago
The NRA is not out of touch , but you are. NRA is a highly respected civil rights movement and is very moderate too.
  • ErinRosa · 1 year ago
    Moderate for who? Archie Bunker?

I respect their classes and qualifications (after all, what kid with a .22 didn't want to qualify as a sharpshooter and get a cool patch) but not their politics.
  • fdyjfv · 1 year ago
I don't believe you are "a proud gun owner and shooter". I am sure you don't have any guns , including BB gun , toy guns etc.
Your posts are so extreme antigun and anti NRA. You also supports the most antigun candidate ever to run for president of the usa.
A man you know will try very hard to ban all handguns and most rifles for civilians.
What "proud gun owner and shooter" would ever do that.
  • ErinRosa · 1 year ago
Wrong. Ruger 10/22 and a .38 snubed revolver. And yet I'm still not going to join the NRA.
  • Eric Maloney · 1 year ago
Your one of the Obama Plants that he told to go out and lie about his record. NRA has protected our right to bear arms.

Your a traitor to this fine country by supporting a man who is funded by terrorists. Yes Obama is being funded bym Radical Islamic Extremists who hate this country and want to destroy it and to take away our right to defend ourselves against terrorists.

I"m so sick of the NRA lying about Democratics taking their guns....I am a Democrat and have bought plenty of guns....I will be glad when the American public tells the liars at the NRA to shut up...
  • I LIKE MY RIGHTS · 1 year ago
You are a liar , not the NRA. NRA have never said the democrats ( I am a democrat myself ) "will take away peoples guns" They have said some politicians , among them democrats as well as republicans will take away peoples guns , and that is truth. Obama has in the past (before the election ) said he would ban every single handgun in the nation. And if you look at hes voting records I trust that statement. Obama is the most antigun candidate ever to run for the white house.
I don't like to wote for a republican , but I simply have to. I like my civil rights too much.
  • FreeSpeech · 1 year ago
you can count me as one of those "bitter" Americans "clinging" to my guns and religion, and you'd better believe I'll be clinging to them even harder ...

Mr. Obama has yet to meet a gun control law he doesn't like. If elected, his influence over ATF regulatory interpretation will bring us back to the days of Clinton, if not worse. Despite Mr. Obama's attempt to run from his 100% anti-gun record, you can't effectively put lipstick on this pig. Mr. Obama is anti-gun and I cannot vote for him becaus of that. And I agree with him on just about everything else!
  • L.J. · 1 year ago
ATF regulatory interpretation going back to the days of Clinton would sadly be an improvement. They have gone absolutely crazy under the Bush administration. Just look at the barrel ban. At least parts kits were available under Clinton.
  • uzi9mm · 1 year ago
That is a very good point! The importation of "non-sporting" barrels
was something we certainly did enjoy under the Clinton ATF. Good
    point.

Just wait - Biden wrote the "assault weapon" ban for heaven sake. The Dems will come after semi auto's and limit the capacity of your mags. I like my semi auto's and mags than hold more than 10 rounds so I am voting against these commies. If it was not for the NRA we would have lost the 2nd amendment to liberal fools already.
  • Duaine · 1 year ago
Sorry Joe, if your man wins you can kiss that Beretta goodby! There is only one way you can stop him and that is to give yourself the break break that you are asking us for. Break with the non functioning political machine that you are in bed with and join us AMERICANS in our effort to save freedom for our children. I would rather trust my familys future to an honest young lady from Alaska than any other polition in office today!
  • R. Lyons · 1 year ago
Joe Biden's comment to the United Mine Workers in Virginia regarding guns sounds like he is pandering to whom he thinks are a group of redneck illiterates in his choice of language; " I guarantee you Obama ain't taking my shotguns ..." and "...I got two." This is reminiscent of John Kerry's " Where can I get me a hunting license?"
  • rkba · 1 year ago
I'll go with facts over rhetoric, and the facts are the two democrats running would take all law abiding citizens' guns away if they could. Just look at their records.
  • bluesteel357 · 1 year ago
Obama is hoping that his true record on guns and ammunition keeps being hidden from voters.
  • mec · 1 year ago
Many wealthy democrats believe that skeet shooting should be allowed for those who can afford it. This does not make them pro gun. Obama signed ( and later denied signing) a questionaire in which he supported a complete ban on handguns. Biden was a chief archetech of the clinton anti gun legislation. Obama has promised to appoint supreme court justices of the same ilk as the four who voteded against the second amendment as an individual right.
  • Charlie · 1 year ago
Actually, all nine justices voted to support the Second Amendment as an INDIVIDUAL right. The justices that Mr. Obama admires claim that the government has the right to limit the exercise of those rights to a military or government controlled context. Or, as Barack says, "I know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne," That is, infringement is really cool.
  • Zbz · 1 year ago
Obama has said he "respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms" and "will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns." Those are the facts, the NRA and its financial supporters can "believe" anything you want, but Obama has already clearly stated is intention on the matter. This is more of the same Republican rhetoric, lie, lie and then lie some more knowing that their constituency is too stupid to figure out the truth.
  • rkba · 1 year ago
I guess you believe everything a politican would say then. His record says otherwise. He wants to ban concealed carry even though the overwhelming majority of states allow it with minimal to moderate interferences. He didn't believe the second amendment applied to people until after the SCOTUS said so...how convenient.
  • creeks · 1 year ago
After Obama says "he protect guns....... he then says he supports banning entire classes of semi auto military rifles that millions of American use for hunting, competative shooting, defense, plinking etc. You need to read between the line. Study up do not take his words at face value.
  • JHarris · 1 year ago
Those who won't join the NRA can start giving their guns up after the elections in November.Reading these negative comments about the NRA makes me laugh my ass off. Give me a break!
  • Andy · 1 year ago
Unfortunately for Messrs. Obama and Biden, protecting the Second Amendment isn't about shotguns used for duck hunting. Protecting the Second Amendment is about the kinds of "icky" guns that get liberals all hot-and-bothered (semi-automatic pistols and rifles). Protecting the Second Amendment is about recognizing that lawful citizens should not be prevented from keeping NOR bearing their lawfully owned arms.

Realistically, this means the long record of opposition (from both Obama and Biden) to concealed-carry legislation and support for handgun and assault-weapon bans is truly indicative of the fact that the Obama/Biden ticket is staunchly ANTI-Second Amendment. The Democrats aren't offering change . . . they're offering more of the same tired, old statist arguments for increasing government power at the expense of the private citizen.

AHSA is a shill for the Brady Campaign. I guess the Brady Bunch is giving up on twisting statistics and spreading misinformation and resorting to "divide and conquer". Someone should tell them that only 1 out 5 gun owners are hunters.
  • mc · 1 year ago
they just dont get it its not about your duckguns i tried to talk to ahsa about their views alls they want to talk about is keeping land open to hunt on they are in the pocket of the anti 2nd amendment group
  • creeks · 1 year ago
    Study up!! On Huntersandshooters
This is an orgainization that is run by individuals who have a long history of activity in the gun control movement. The organization is also funded by anti-gun dollars. This is not an alternative for thinking gun owners. This is a place for fools who do not think or are not informed.

Yes, I'll join the chorus of saying I don't give a ??? Oabama says, I look at his record AND past statements. Most of the time these days he mentions not taking guns away, but he doesn't specify which guns.and mostly talks about "hunting". What about handguns??? The record there speaks for itself. As for those self identified gun owners and shooters who say the NRA is out of touch, either you are not who you say you are, or you haven't got a clue or are too lazy to check out the facts. The anti gun people have always thought divide and conquer was the way to go. Yeah, I'm a bitter gun owner because I get tired of "most" liberals insinuating I'm some kind of nut and can't be trusted with a firearm or anyone else for that matter. I also look at who the Democrats are cozying up with and see a bunch of crackpots and fruitloops who someday will want something in return for their support.
  • Civil Rights · 1 year ago
The NRA is a very truthful and moderate organisation. They endorses democrats as well as republicans.
The only isue they are looking at , are the candidates stands on guns and hunting. I like Obama , but I have to agree with The NRA. Obama Will try to take away peoples guns. He will do that by apointing antigun judges , including supreme court judges , and by apointing antigun diplomats in the UN.
The UN are trying to ban all handguns for all private citizens , including US citizens , dispite of the second amendment. If the Obama administration signs that ban ( and they will ) the second amendment is not worth anything.
It is very sad because I otherwise like Obama , but when it comes to civil rights I don't. For that reason alone I will wote for McCain.
  • hgfjh · 1 year ago
Obama suprted the unlawfull DC gunban. He still suports the illegal Chicago gunban. In the past he has suported every gunban proposal on hes desk. , including a total handgunbanThe NRA has rightfully gradet him an F on his voting records on the gun and hunting issues.
Obama dosn't like civil rights , therefor I don't like him.
I will not trust him to apoint the new judges in the supreme court.

    Hey Joe,

It ain't shotguns but my ARs and handguns. When they finally get them they will be hot and empty.
  • akchilli · 1 year ago
Sen. Obama consistently refers to hunters/sportsman when talking about his support of the 2nd ammendment... the problem is that the 2nd ammendment makes no reference to hunting, nor did the authors discuss hunting when writing the ammendment... rather they discussed it so that the people had the right to defend themselves from a tyranical goverment, either domestic or foreign... futhuremore less than 1 out of 5 gun owners identify themselves as hunters and a recent poll shows that the majority of gun owners purchased their firearms for reasons other than hunting... when someone states "even if I wanted to (take away your guns) I don't have the votes in congress" I am sorry that is not reassuring to me!

    Yes, Senator b
Biden, please give us a break! I have in my files a newspaper photo of you brandishing a TEC-9 "assault pistol" at a Senate hearing on gun control in 1993. That hearing resulted in the farce known as the "Clinton/Brady Assault Rifle Ban" that we had to put up with for 10 years. You and Barack "Empty Suit" Obama are two of the most anti-gun-rights advocates in office, and your respective voting records prove it. You and Obama can make all the pro-Second Amendment noises you want, and it won't change the record. I hope that all of America's law-abiding gun owners get out and vote for McCain, and relegate the two of you to the footnote-in-history status that you so richly deserve!

Who have ever heard of a politician from Gunbancity Chicargo , who have ever suported gunrights and other citizens rights for that matter.
Please come on. Everybody knows Obama is just lying to win the election. He is also endorsed by the antigun brady campaign.
If he wins the election , he will have the power to take away our gunrights , he dosn't need the congress.
He can take away our rights by apointing antigun judges , and by apointing antigun diplomates in the UN.
UN diplomates is trying very hard these days to get the Bush administration to sign a letter that will ban handguns for private citizens in the world , including the USA. If the president sign that binding letter , it is goodbye for ever to the second amendment. And trust me Obama will be very happy to sign it. He knows any future president can not roll that signature back.

Biden is the father of the Clinton Gun ban of 1994 that attempted to take the civil rights away of millions of gun owners. Biden refused to back down when even liberal Dems. warned him their could well be a back lash. Biden refused and many Dems. in progun states lost their seats. Even Clinton admitted 25+ seats the Dems. lost in the House was over the gun ban. The Repulicans took control of the House and Senate.
  • Francis Rosinski II · 1 year ago
I am a REPUBLICAN. You know why? While I was in the Marine Corps, Clinton got in and decimated the military. You hear now that the military is stretched thin. That is because the democrats cut the military almost to the point it cannot be effective, and now they whine about it. We are in Iraq and Afganistan. TWO fronts. How many did we have in WWII? I am a gun owner. I've hunted since I was a kid with my dad (Vietnam Marine Vet). I will not vote for obama because he is RED!!!! By the way my congessman is the honorable John Dingell, an NRA supported democrat. I have never contributed much money, but that is changing this year. I've already sent a couple hundred bucks to Mccain/Palin and will start sending more to the NRA. Afterall, I AM the NRA/

Listen to Biden's carefully worded statement. "Ain't takin my shotguns" and " I love my over and under". That excludes the vast majority of guns and implies some are OK and some aren't. Typical of their deceitful doublespeak on the issue. Obama can't hide from his true position on this, the facts speak for themselves.
