The Colorado Independent: McCain ad ‘lashes out’ at Obama’s ‘disrespect’ toward Palin

  • McClum · 1 year ago
Unfortunately Palin is a lying about her record in an effort to mislead the American public. Democracy only works when citizens educate themselves on where candidates stand on the issues and asses a candidates ability to lead us in the right direction. I would argue that we should move forward in a strong positive fashion to improve all of our lives and our nation as a whole. We know the way we have operated for the last 8 years has not improved our security or our financial lives. Why would we continue with the same policies that we have had for the last 8 years by electing McCain.

Would our country be well served if McCain died in office leaving us with Palin as President? I think not. she has not had the world experience, the education or the curiosity to learn that is required of a President.

The truth must be told and exposing Palin as unfit for office is not being disrespectful or condescending or sexist. This is proving that Palin does not havve what it takes to be our VP or President.

Since when does a vacuous canoe without a paddle, a horse without a saddle, a ranch without any cattle, an otherwise empty vessel filled with nonsense and platitudes spouting programmed answers to complex and thoughtful questions, deserve respect?

Can we get back to the issues people! Yesh, this is not a personality contest. People are hurting.

How cynical for McCain to use a "straw woman" to create sexism where none exists. Palin is a lying, greedy politician of the old school. McCain-2000 has completedly transformed himself into McCain-2998 willing and able to use deception, misdirection and "restatement" of previously held views just to get elected. ANYTHING and EVERYTHING is on the table just to get into the White House... apparently this includes his much vaunted integrity. The Republican ticket is a big, fat ZERO and the only thing remaining to determine is how badly they will lose in Nov.
  • Steffla · 1 year ago
Unfortunately for the McCain camp, they have nothing else to say but claim "sexism", "disrespect"...blah blah blah. What about the issues McCain and PALIN?? What are you going to do about the economy? What are you going to do about unemployment and people losing their jobs? Oh wait, Obama was mean to you...poor little Sarah. Sexism?? The McCain is REINVENTING it! Put her out there with the media? She did so horribly with Charlie Gibson she'll probably be in hiding again until the election. Bottom line...we need change and NOT the kind the McPalin ticket is offering!!
  • John · 1 year ago
Is it possible that McCains polls are showing that he is lagging far behind? I really expected more of an issue oriented, serious campaign from him instead of the usual ridiculous attack ads. It just would have been nice to see serious debate about issues instead of this. But what can you expect from a voting population that gets its info from 30 second sound bites.

How is Obama honoring those that died in 9/11....watch how Obama throws his flower watch how John McCain and his wife Cindy gently lays theirs down.

(Actions do speak so loud and clear.)

I noticed CNN deleted Obama throwing the flower when they showed the scene at the 9/11 memorial
  • MC · 1 year ago
Actions do speak loud and clear, and that is why Obama has tried keep this contest about issues and not engage in such silly name calling and divisive mud slinging. McCain on the other hand (whom I voted for in the 2000 primary) has given up any claim to be a unite-r, or a maverick., or honorable about politics. Truth matters.

If McCain really was honorable, he could step up at any time, and tell his supporter, and the GOP echo chamber to stop the racist, mocking, personal attacks, bu t no. John McCain is MIA.
  • Gloria · 1 year ago
Yes, I saw that. What an idiot. Wake up Obama supporters, you guys have picked the wrong horse to win the race; again! Life is great as McCain soars in the polls. Should have gone with Hillary!!!!!

A prediction. Biden is setting himself to walk away from the campagn by saying that Hillary would have made a good president and would have probably been a better VP pick than himself. Watch out, I see Hillary being brought in to close the Deal that OBAMA CANT... That will be commical and also to little to late. But either way it will be a win win situation for Hillary. I look forward to the OBama Supporters/ Hillary Haters to praise her; as they need her to get there Chosen One elected. Ha, Don't hold your breath. Its as good as done, Obama is tanking!!

I meant the choice of Palin made by McCain. You must love Palin and believe she will help the Republicans win.

whether lying or not Sarah Palin's position on many big issues has dramatically changed since she was nominated as vice presidential candidate. She said the war in Iraq was a holy war, now she has backed off from that position. She said global warmi ng was a falicy and not in part the result of human activity polutting the environments, now she has backed off from that position. She is being investigated by a grand jury in Alaska, btu has decided to fight supeonas designed to get at the truth after she called for ethics reform in Washington. All I can say is will the real Sarah Palin please stand up.

To me this is exactly the dishonesty in government we want to change, and Sarah Palin is an emblem of what's wrong with Washington, exteeme opions and dishonesty.
  • Rolanda · 1 year ago
    Agree.
  • MC · 1 year ago
I wish we could go back to the issues too, but the GOP propaganda machine has unleashed the greatest disinformation campaign since the invasion of Iraq. Notice how even Palin came so close to repeating the Bush/Cheney lie that Iraq was behind the 9/11 attacks. This election has now become about the GOP's use of lies, distortion and deception to mislead the public.

Why do states prosecute car dealers for deceptive ads, but let Swift Boat style lies go unpunished?
  • Hoplite · 1 year ago
The Republican Ministry of Slime and Propaganda is playing the 2008 version of Emmitt Till. Instead of "whistling" the accusation is "disrespecting" a white woman. The aims are the same: destruction politically, instead of physically. An almost clever attempt to reach that now hidden, but very alive, ugly little racist impulse in many Americans. This Rovian tactic must be met with thoughtful ferocity. These people are a danger to American liberties and would make Joseph Goebbels (Nazi party...WWII era) envious at their improvement of the old techniques. I used to have admiration for John McCain and even thought he might be viable; I was deluded. He has dishonored himself by "approving" his campaign messages. A new dispicable low in politics in the USA. He and his party care only about winning the power over people and will do anything to get it. His reckless fighter jock strategy: turn to the Far Right and launch. Honor be damned. Your are a War Hero monument to be sure, but not fit to lead even with your VP gambit.

Its terribly sad. What the republicans are doing to america. How they lie and belittle her > In office, to get in office. The movement Obama hints at, will surely one ay sweep them from office, altogether, and it will be the end of such politics and democracy will return to the USA.
As a Christian, this is what I pray to God..i am a Puritan and my ancestors forefathers that came with the Mayflower!

I Have never heard it said as simply as that James Young guy. Founding fathers or not he has ir right. McCain and his bosses are cynically destroying America and I dont gove a damn if he used to bomb innocent Vietnamese kids and women. he is No hero is my eye. Not a gut that sanctions lies. Those two republicans are not fit to govern America. And I was a marine in Vietnam. An saw the bombers miss and kill innocent folks and it was us on the ground, the soldiers and marines that really took the flack and fought that crappy war which we lost, get it right we lost, and deserved to, for the loss of so many, so many good young me, due to corrupt politicians. No bomber pilot was a hero, never was , just murderers. A soldier fights on the deck.! And a politician has to be smart enough to keep children, for thats what we were, from slaughtering and getting slaughtered. Dont glamorize war !

Mccain is shamelessly using suttle racial incindiary messages, to woo white voters who would otherwise be open to vote across racial lines. Make no mistake, his campaign is not just using the lipstick on a pig remark, and now the direspectful allegation of a black man disrespecting a white woman as just campaign attacks, It has racial connotones to it, yet the media would not call him on it but continues to report it.He claims to want to unite this nation however like the promise of George Bush If he is elected there will be chasm in this nation that hell will rejoice at. He promised a clean campaign void of the bitterness and rancour of times past and which he was a victim of. However he has employed the same individuals who were the authors and perpetrators of such despicable practices to now do the same nefarious acts. It is therefore obvious that he is not for change, only for his self promotion at any cost. Quit your crying. McCain and Palin are going to win. Obama has lost his edge, he speaks well but that luster is wearing thin. Palin is true sincere and will be the next president after McCain. Hey, as Obama took from Hillary turn about is fair play.

    Ex Democrat and Hillary Supporter

He should have picked Hillary and there would not have been mutiny.

Obama accuses McCain/Palin of attacking his record … what record? Obama is an empty suit who hasn’t done anything. That’s why instead of running on his record, he has to run a campaign based upon attacking McCain/Palin. Obama’s tactic has always been ‘the best defense is a good offense’. For example, Obama will make the pig/lipstick smear, just days after Palin scores points with the ‘pitbull/lipstick statement … then he disingenuously acts as if there’s no connection. He did it again with Palin’s community organizer is similar to a mayor, but with out the responsibility … which everyone knows was Palin’s response to Obama demeaning her experience as a small town mayor. There’s nothing wrong with being a community organizer, but being a community organizer is certainly not credentials for becoming President of the United States! Obama has done this, as well as playing the race card numerous times. The changes Obama wants would dramatically weaken this country, in terms of our economy and our national defense.

One thing that should be noted re the manner the candidates would operate if they're elected:
McCain spouts off before thinking, which would probably get us in a war with the whole world, and he also goes whichever way the Bush wind blows. Palin also shoots from the hip with her limited experience and knowledge. Both think they know everything and , arrogantly, will not feel the need to consult with experts.

Obama has already said he will consult with Joe Biden, Clinton, and others, including across political lines, to draw on their long experience in matters of importance.
Who do you want for president, someone who will mouth off, act alone, and damn the consequences,to the rest of us, or someone who will consult with experts before acting?
In other words, do you want a president and vice-president who can THINK or do you want someone who shoots off their mouth, nukes and moose guns before thinking?
I'd much rather have the THINKING people in charge of my children's future, thank you.

    Enough is enough!
When would they stop this meaningless fires and refocus on the contents of the subject??? It's about leadership for a country, not a movement for equal rights of women. (I say this as a woman.)

''So they said she was doing what she was told. Then desperately called Sarah Palin a liar.''
They said this or not? Whatever, but these are all true! See her interview, she pretended so hard to be something she is not, by using all the fisting gestures and the apparently firm tone. Normal people do use it, but only when you deliberately shaping an illusive image, you use it so much.

McCain, shame on you that you put the stake of the whole country on playing power game. Palin, if you are really a strong woman, be yourself and tell people what exactly you think rather than being trained to be a follower.

I'm sorry that Ernest Lunning doesn't realize sexism when he sees, hears, and repeats it. This is just one account of what Obama really feels. In fact this is a great example of how he doesn't stand by anything he says.

According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer OpEd piece:
“Now is the time to keep the promise of equal pay for an equal day’s work,” Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Aug. 28 in his convention acceptance speech. He told the crowd in Denver: “I want my daughters to have exactly the same opportunities as your sons.”
Obama’s campaign website is even more specific. Under the heading “Fighting for Pay Equity,” the women’s issues page laments that, “Despite decades of progress, women still make only 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. A recent study estimates it will take another 47 years for women to close the wage gap with men at Fortune 500 corporate offices. Barack Obama believes the government needs to take steps to better enforce the Equal Pay Act…”
Obama’s commitment to federally mandated pay equity stretches from the Rockies to Wall Street and beyond. And yet it seems to have eluded his Senate office. Compensation figures for his legislative staff reveal that Obama pays women just 83 cents for every dollar his men make.
    …..
Again, on average, Obama’s female staffers earn just 83 cents for every dollar his male staffers make. This figure certainly exceeds the 77-cent threshold that Obama’s campaign website condemns. However, 83 cents do not equal $1. In spite of this 17-cent gap between Obama’s rhetoric and reality, he chose to chide GOP presidential contender John McCain on this issue.
    ….
Obama’s criticism notwithstanding, McCain’s payment patterns are the stuff of feminist dreams.
McCain’s 17 male staffers split $916,914, thus averaging $53,936. His 25 female employees divided $1,396,958 and averaged $55,878.
On average, according to these data, women in John McCain’s office make $1.04 for every dollar a man makes. In fact, all other things being equal, a typical female staffer could earn 21 cents more per dollar paid to her male counterpart — while adding $10,726 to her annual income — by leaving Barack Obama’s office and going to work for John McCain.
    …..
In short, these statistics suggest that John McCain is more than fair with his female employees, while Barack Obama — at the expense of the women who work for him — quietly perpetuates the very same pay-equity divide that he loudly denounces. Of all people, the Democratic standard bearer should understand that equal pay begins at home.

I'm sorry to see that Ernest Lunning does not see, hear, and chooses to repeat sexism. Don't worry Mr. Lunning women know it when we see it and thankfully John McCain does too.
