Erin asks... Are you worried about possible labor strife surrounding the convention?
  • Wendy Norris · 1 year ago
labor and the media The governor's executive order allowing state employees to join a union (with some limitations) and a slew of expected ballot measures have generated quite a bit of controversy in the media with allegations of bias and inaccurate reporting, what's your take and how can these problems be bridged to better inform the public on the complex subject of labor relations?

    My priorities are....

My prorities are: (in interest of time have to be relatively short)

    1. Improving access to city services for residents in District 3's neighborhoods,

    2. Revitilizing District 3's business corridors, neighborhoods with responsible economic development.

    3. Improving the saftey of our nieghborhoods

    4. Establishing better community and civic participation to build more community pride. Thgis is important to our future vitality and create an ownership of our community by it's own residents.

    Most Difficult issue is...

I would have to safety crime and safety,

There have been tragedies in West Denver that have rocked us to the core and that beg important questions about the future of our young people as it related to education and prevention rather than just responding to tragedy.

Access and affordable... There has always been labor struggles and always will be as long as wages are low, and when affordable access to healthcare, housing and education is on the chopping block. I am committed to make sure that working families are able to afford to live.

Labor and the Media We need to be reminded of our history a little better.  At the turn of the century young children worked in factories and there was no such thing as an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week. Let's not forget that.  Health care benefits, retirement and even the weekend are the result of the labor movement...everyday people like you and I.  All employees should have the right to join a union and bargain collectively for fair and living wages for full time pay.
