Happy, well-compensated workers with good benefits who are treated fairly aren't tempted by, nor do they seek out, unions. It's whats called "meet and confer" or more accurately "meet and beg." Unfortunately SEIU cut a deal with the governor, undermining other unions like CWA that wanted to keep fighting for a real collective bargaining law, and then backed a law taking away the right to strike, all for a weak executive order that will be torn up by the next GOP governor.
