The Colorado Independent: Editor’s Note

  • notachanceatall · 1 year ago
Congrats on the new name and format, it looks good. Dang Cara, you made me go and register. I liked being able to post without logging in. So be it, you 'outed' me. ;-)
  • cdegette · 1 year ago
    Thanks notachance,

But I still don't know who you are, even if you did have to register. And, even if I did know, I wouldn't tell a soul...
  • wendynorris · 1 year ago
Hey notachanceatall, are you in the running for a state delegate seat?

Maybe we can catch up at the GOP state convention in Broomfield. Though I don't know who you are either. Cara and I will work out a secret handshake for Colorado Independent readers so you all can identify yourselves.
  • notachanceatall · 1 year ago
I an alternate and am on the fence as to whether I will head to Broomfield and 'maybe' get selected as a delegate.

I'd like to think that if I went to the convention, I'd be a part of the process and not just a sideline watcher. I'm still intrigued with the process and may just head up there for grins and giggles. Waddya think?
  • notachanceatall · 1 year ago
Jeeze, nice english prose there. "I am an alternate..."

Ok, Cara we need an edit function for stupid fingers.....please.
  • notachanceatall · 1 year ago
    Cara,

I'm nobody at all when it comes to the political machine in Colorado or anywhere else for that matter. I'm just someone that decided to see how the process worked and became a delegate for my district here in El Paso County.

I just liked the anonymity of being able to post and not having to register. I understand that brings a certain abuse to that ability and I imagine the process was changes as a result of some dork messing it up for the rest of us.

Congrats!! And, I like that you named your blog The Confidential so you don't forget your roots!
  • hebzibah · 1 year ago
Name change works for me so long as you keep the same great content
  • wendynorris · 1 year ago
    Hi hebzibah,

You can count on that. We've got some great stuff lined up for this week.

You can also sign up to get breaking news and headlines from our Twitter account at http://twitter.com/COindependent

    Roots are important,

    And the times ahead exciting...
  • wildflower · 1 year ago
    Yikes I've been outed.

I also liked the anonymity of posting.

Wouldn't want to wake up some morning and see the big blue truck across the street.

But the new format looks great, congratulations!
  • wildflower · 1 year ago
Sometimes, with the old format, if we only had a couple of minutes, it was nice to see the amount of comments on the main page with all the columns. Now it looks like you have to click on ea. column and bring the column up to see the number of comments. Not quite so handy for speed-reading/time conservation.
  • cdegette · 1 year ago
    Thanks for your feedback, wildflower.

I promise, we have no big blue trucks. For that matter, we have no tanks. We have no Hazmat trucks or hazardous materials response vehicles. We don't even have a Unified Incident Command Vehicle. (See the Riot Toyz R Us story on the front page if you're not sure what I'm talking about). You are safe here, with us.

But do you have a $385,000 sound amplification system?
  • cdegette · 1 year ago
We won't reveal that until August.
  • eluning · 1 year ago
At that price, it had better play CDs, mp3s, cassette tapes, vinyl albums AND 8-tracks.
  • wendynorris · 1 year ago
    ... and betamax.

    Am I dating myself?
  • pwyll · 1 year ago
forcing people to register to comment?
forcing people to register to send in news tips?
a contact link that goes to "page not found"?

my guess is that you plan to fix all 3 of these errors PDQ?
  • hawkeye · 1 year ago
Well . . . no worries remembering the new name anyway. Much nicer layout, too. In my humble opinion, of course.
  • pwyll · 1 year ago
check out this site. Similar to what you are doing here, I think. Very successful.

    To pwyll...

The contact page is fixed. Thanks for the heads up on that.

Registering is standard operating procedure for news sites. It helps us keep in touch with our readers (we'll have an optional email alert system soon on breaking news, for example) and allows readers a much more informative and enjoyable experience when one doesn't have to wade through the spitting, kicking and vitriol in comment threads that have overwhelmed other non-registration sites.

More importantly, reserving "your name" prevents others from hijacking your online identity and wreaking havoc among reader communities to discredit your reputation.
