John Andrews’ strange, clueless ‘Coloradan of the Year’ column
Currently (5:10 p.m. 11-8), Ludwig is down by about 13,000 votes, but the trends point to a possible Ludwig upset:
1) Denver has 40,000 absentee and provisional ballots that have not been counted. Ludwig carried Denver with 66-percent of the vote; Republican Brian Davidson 23-percent. If those numbers hold that gives Ludwig the edge. (26,400 vs. 9,200)
2) Pueblo has 19,000 absentee ballots not counted. Ludwig carried Pueblo County with 55-percent of the vote, Davdison 36-percent, if those numbers Ludwig again comes out ahead (10,450 vs. 6,840).
Pueblo and Denver have enough for Ludwig to close the 13,000 vote gap and win.
However, in this analysis, it is unclear about other counties and the status of their absentee ballots.
We'll see. The Denver Post has called the race, but they could be proven wrong.
