The Colorado Independent: Billions and Billions Needed to Mitigate Energy Impacts

    I dunno

That number for Eagle County seems a little fishy to me.

GarCo Needs Help From Eagle Perhaps it's Garfield County that needs to learn how to project costs...they come in lower than Rifle's! Read GarCo's excuses here about their lousy math.

That's what I was thinking. The Eagle County number doesn't make sense to me and I live in Eagle Cty. I wonder what is behind this estimate? Any ider?

true Garfields' numbers are low, but it is not surprising coming from the Garfield Oil and Gas Assistance League ( Larry, John, Jesse, et.al. )

Beats me Half a billion and there's no gas there, is there? Maybe in extreme N.E. Eagle county, but I don't think so.

    oops I mean N.W., not N.E.

Reason for Differing Numbers The reason for these numbers as explained by DOLA was to get a look at what local government needs could be aticipated within the next 20 years not necessarily energy impacts. Hence the Eagle County number. The study is being created, as I understand it, to give the DOLA Director the ability to quantify local governments' needs just as readily as CDOT or the Dept. of Ed. can quantify theirs.

The quick turn-around was also a problem but I think that is why DOLA isn't ready to publish the report yet and I think we need to give them time.
