The Colorado Independent: Anti-immigrant groups back vehicle impound ballot initiative

As a staunch libertarian, I heartily oppose this initiative.
It is obnoxious and will change nothing except annoy innocent people.

I dunno, it's not just racial profiling, there is another aspect to this law: drunk drivers who lose their license continue to drive, and they don't have insurance. A dear family member was badly injured by just such a driver. It's been almost four years, and she still suffers from the internal injuries caused by this drunk driver who had no insurance to even help with the medical bills.

If he had lost his car in his previous DUIs perhaps he wouldn't have had the $2500 and he wouldn't have been back on the road.

The fact that the initiative specifies "illegal aliens" numerous times in its text tells you all you need to know. Excellent reporting Natalie; maybe the Denver dailies will catch up with you on this!

    Err sorry...I meant Naomi!

If the Denver and Colorado governments had been doing their jobs at enforcing laws, citizens wouldn't be forced to keep backing initiatives like this. Denver is well known as a sanctuary city and citizens are sick of it. Our hospitals, schools and social services and job markets are overwhelmed by illegal aliens. On top of that identity theft is rampant. Why is it wrong to get unlicensed and uninsured motorists off the roads?

The proper legal term is "illegal alien" not immigrant. I would challenge someone to show where these groups publicize a stance against immigrants.

If you believe the likes of Councilman Paul Lopez, Councilman Rick Garcia, and Rights for all (illegal) People Lisa Duran the only good law is one that does not pertain to the illegal aliens invading our borders. Maybe they would prefer the proposed laws wording to include only African, Asian, and European illegal

I am deeply saddened by Naomi Zeveloff's deliberate mischaracterization of the late Waldo Benavidez. I knew Waldo well; he was deeply concerned about his community and how its cohesiveness was negatively impacted by illegal immigration. He made the point repeatedly and clearly that he supported immigrants who waited in line to legally enter our country, and that he opposed our government's policy of unending illegal immigration.

Perhaps I can understand Ms. Zeveloff's tendency towards shoddy, inflammatory reporting, but to launch an ad hominem attack against a deceased individual who was a long-standing community leader is reprehensible and inexcusable.

It is also worthy to note that Defend Colorado Now similarly opposed illegal immigration and in no way was opposed to legal immigrants.

Now back to our regularly-scheduled yellow journalism.
