It's 2008. I believe after seven Trillion dollars (actual expenditure) to 'end povery as we know it" we can finally, rationally, accept that we are not in need of quotas any longer.

Let's stop imprisoning all people with substandard labels. For God's sake.

Re: Affirmative-action defenders slam Jessica Peck Corry

Type your comment here.
What a non-story! Why is this website parroting this false outrage that is so clearly political and lacking merit? Nobody can reasonably believe that making fun of Obama's/Osama's names is racist. Precisely how is pointing out the similarities between the two names racist, especially because Osama is defined as white? Have we on the Left so run out of arguments against 46 on its merits that we must invent this PC crap, that the Right backlashes so effectively? Does this mean we can't make fun of peoples' names anymore? Do I need to take my "Lick Bush" bumper sticker off? Is that offensive to women? Stop whining, Valverde, nobody believes your race card, come up with some real arguments as to why you need a special preference over some recent Asian immigrant because I haven't heard any yet and it's time for the Left to give up opposing 46, I too have received the orders from the Obama campaign that if we are to win Colorado's electoral votes we cannot link opposition to 46 to Obama.

Re: Affirmative-action defenders slam Jessica Peck Corry

Her remarks were in poor taste, but hardly racist.

And how is it contradictory to advocate a color-blind society and poke fun at somebody's name? Answer: it isn't.

@ dan_green

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, guy, but the Colorado CRI is almost certainly going to pass in November. Similar measures have passed each time they made it to ballot, even in states with far more liberal voters than CO.

A.
