John Andrews’ strange, clueless ‘Coloradan of the Year’ column
The tipster finds a willing conduit in Peter Boyles and makes his allegations public.
9News decides to air the story because as they claim:
So, in effect, 9News succumbed to gotcha journalism simply because they could now air a he said-he said story. NOT because there was additional evidence presented that verified the truthfulness of this story.
Good grief! And the media wonders why the public has so little trust in them?
People have to realize that Pastor Haggert is not running for public office in this election (thank god!!!) and the ballot issues are not about him. They are about how we structure our public laws and State Constitution. Whatever sympathies you have, you should vote on how you think these measures would affect all of the citizens of Colorado and ignore the Scandal.
Ignore the fact--the FACT--that people who are against gay marriage are against gays. They have cherry picked verses from the Bible to pick on gays this time, just as their intellectual and theological ancestors have variously picked on blacks, Roman Catholics, Jews and Arabs--all with full backing from a poor reading of Scripture and lazy listening to the prophets of impending doom who keep harping about "defending ____ from _____."
It's always a small, relatively defenseless, outsider group. You never see the invective or pressure groups or websites targeted at people who cheat on their taxes, ignore the suffering of the poor, divorce and remarry, or worship at the idol of material consumption. Oh, no, that's too hard a task, even though it's right there in the Bible too. You wish people wouldn't do those things, but, well, you know . . . . No, instead it's "the weakest among us" we choose to turn the full force of our many blessings on.
Don't you see, my brothers and sisters, that the threat to marriage and the family does not come from without but from within? Yes, ignore the scandal, ignore your own constant sinning, and concentrate instead on beating down the one population you have singled out as being inferior to you. Put them in their place. And if you do that, why not go further? Teach your kids to spit on them, put them in jail, fire them from their jobs. Why not? What's the difference? They're just gays.
I've been trying to put into words, what you so eloquently did.
I couldn't agree more, I?m tired of being treated as a second class citizen looked down upon and made to feel worthless by hypocrites. It also bolsters my beliefs in not believing.
